Our Story
A space built for slowing down.
It began on St Fagans Road.
The Murmur was born from a simple belief — that every neighbourhood deserves a place where time moves a little slower. A place where the coffee is taken seriously, the tea is chosen with care, and the door is always open.
We found our first home on St Fagans Road in Cardiff — warm light, high ceilings, and room to settle. A corner of the city given over to good coffee and unhurried conversation.
“The low hum of a room alive with quiet conversation.”
We take the craft seriously.
Coffee
Every coffee is sourced from small farms with a clear story, from roasters who share our respect for the people and places behind each bean. Served with care, never rushed.
Loose Leaf Tea
Single-estate teas, seasonal blends and rare finds — brewed to order, steeped properly, served beautifully.
The Kitchen
Simple, honest food from quality ingredients. Breakfast, brunch and afternoon plates designed to complement your drink — not compete with it.
The Space
Designed for dwell time. Whether you’re working solo, meeting a friend, or marking a moment — a place to arrive, settle, and stay a little longer than you planned.
Why The Murmur?
A murmur is the sound of a room alive with quiet conversation — the low hum of a café doing exactly what it should. It’s not a shout. It’s not silence. It’s the gentle sound of people gathered, comfortable, present. That’s the feeling we’re after, every single day.
Where conversations begin.
Where next for The Murmur?
We’re growing. Our next home is already on the way in Dinas Powys — a beautifully restored old bank on Grove Road, with high ceilings, original details and light that shifts through the day. And we’re still looking: if you’re a landlord or property owner with a character space in Penarth, Cowbridge, Cyncoed or Lisvane, we’d love to hear from you.
